Carson's 3 year check-up

Carson had his 3 year check-up today! He is 38 1/4 inches. He's in the 75th percentile for his height. And he's 32 lbs. She said he's in between 50-75 percentile for that!
He's doing well. He didn't need any required shots today but I went ahead and got him the Seasonal flu and H1N1 shot today. I took advantage of it as well since Dr. Saluke said I'm "high risk" because of Maddox being under 6 months old.
Other than all that fun stuff, he checked out well. We dont' go again until he's 4.....let's not talk about it....it will be here before we know it....I'm not looking forward to the kiddos growing up so fast. I kinda like his age right now!

Maddox's turn!

So of course one child can't get sick without them all getting sick, right? Maddox now has an ear infection in his left ear. (first one he's had.) Not sure how we went 3 years with Carson not having one ear infection to having Maddox with one at almost 3 months old.
He's now on amoxicilin as well. He projectiled all his medicine up first dose, so that was great. Had to do a full change and bath prior to going to work. My morning this morning started at 1:15 AM since he was up every 1/2 hour crying, wanting to be held and is running a fever around 100-101.
Carson's finally getting better but is still on his medicine (which he despises).
Hopefully no more co-pays and doctor visits for us. Have I mentioned we have spent $160 in one week in doctor visits? Wow.
Will keep you all posted but the little man is down and out right now.
On a positive note, Maddox is up to 12 lbs. 6 oz. now. He's exactly 4 lbs. more than when he was born. He's getting some rolls finally :) YAY!

Carson's first big illness

For about one week Carson had runny nose, congestion and 102 fever. After day 3, I called the doctor. On Wednesday, we took him in. They said it was just a virus, and if it contined through to Friday they would call in an antibiotic. Well, Thursday rolls around and he hadn't peed in 27 hours.....so, the nurse on call insisted we go to Children's ER downtown...so we head downtown.
Wait for 3 hours to get in the room(were there 5 hrs. total) - took urine sample, did ultrasound, etc. and while we were there he peed....woohoo. But we left with absolutely nothing wrong with him.
Friday comes around and Carson's getting sick, not eating anything or even drinking for that matter....wonderful huh? So, we end up back at the doctor's office. He has a double ear infection. Wonderful. This is truly the very first time he's ever had an ear infection or even needed medication for something. He's a very healthy little guy.
So this is where we stand right now. Just praying Maddox can stay well! he's doing great so far.

Back to work

YUCK. I'm back to work. I have to say I was pretty much ready to get back to get out of Barney land. Sure miss the boys when I'm working but makes me really appreciate them when I do see them. Maddox is only getting up one time through the night. I have early mornings now. I have a routine. I get up at 5:15, do my 15 min. workout tape (that's all the time I have), feed maddox whenever he gets up, eat breakfast, drink my coffee, get all ready and out the door at 7:10 to be at work at 8:00.
Due to traffic, I'm lucky to get home at 6 PM. So this leaves me with just a few hours in the evening to spend with the kiddos and my hubby. I wouldn't change my crazy life for anything.
Other than a total adjustment, I'm doing well. Maddox is welll. Carson adores Maddox.
Garrett's a huge help.
We got the xmas tree up too. We've gone to festival of lights as well. A lot of things goin on and I have tons of pics to post. I will put them all on shutterfly for you all to check out!

Maddox's 2 month check-up

Maddox had his check-up today. Doctor was very surprised at how much he's grown and how well he's doing. He's staying on his dose of 2x a day for his medicine, but it's working, so we're very happy.
He was 11 lbs. 3 1/2 oz. and 23 1/2 inches. he's in the 50 percentile for his weight and he's in the 75th percentile for his height. He's doing great.

He had 2 shots and he had medicine by mouth as well. All-in-all, he's one very healthy little boy and we couldn't be more blessed. here are some pics of him at 2 months!!

A few new updates

Well, I can officially say that for about the last 3 weeks Maddox has slept no less than 7 hours each night. The last 2 nights I got a straight 9 hours....I am so thankful at least my 8 week old will sleep through the night. Carson is still having trouble sleeping through the night in his own bed. At least he's staying in his bed though :)
Maddox goes on Monday for his 2 month check-up and shots (the 16th) and then we go for pictures Monday night, so we will have lots of good pics to show (depending on how they act for me).
Maddox did roll over from his front to his back at 7 weeks old. He's very strong. We have upped his dose again to 2x a day on zantac since we tried the 1x a day and he still got sick. this is working too well I think. He's growing larger and larger. I am anxiuos to see how big he is. The lady at the restaurant we frequent weekly said we must be feeding him biscuits and gravy. he's getting that big weekly! So, more to come, but this is about it for now.
Carson is really in love with Maddox. He's a big help. I go back to work in 3 weeks...ugh. It's going to be a huge adjustment getting the kids up and ready and out to work in west chester by 8 AM. Whew. I'm tired thinking about it. And then to think it will be dark by the time I get home at night too.....yuck. Anyway, that's about it. We will keep you updated!!

trick or treat

The boys had a great time trick-or-treating this year. Carson was a "peaceman" (policeman) and Maddox was a bumble bee. Carson wore his outfit out a month before halloween. I am hoping we can retire this outfit now that halloween is over.
We had a great time with the family though and Carson loves all his candy! Here are a few pics to view.

Busy month!

Maddox is over 6 weeks old now. he's doing soo much better. He's getting so big now that the medicine is working. He's finally out of his newborn clothes and into 0-3 month clothes. (Carson begain in 3-6 mos.)
He's got the facials going on. He smiles and coos and frowns. Mr. personality. I must say he's a good baby at night too. He's sleeping at least 4 hrs. at a time. He slept 8 hrs. 2 different nights adn then 6 hrs. last night, gave him pacifier and slept another 4 hrs. He's doing great.
Carson's such a big brother too. he's too much help. He wants to do everything but doesn't know his boundaries. He's been a bit testy with Garrett and I, but that's expected. On the very plus side, he's about potty trained. He's doing great with that.
We're so blessed with our children and we appreciate everything everyone's done for us since Maddox has been in our lives. We love you all.

One month check up

We took Maddox today for his one month check up and shots. Carson got his flu mist while we were there. He did much better than we were expecting him to do.
Maddox is now 9 lbs. 2 oz.....up 12 oz. from 10 days ago...woohoo. Doctor is very pleased. He's average for his height of 21 1/2 inches (20 1/2 when born) and he's below average for his weight (which we kinda figured since he lost so much to begin with).
She said we can put some rice in his bottles to keep from any spit-up. he's not doing a whole lot of projectile at all anymore which is wonderful. baby zantac is working great.
She mentioned we can take him down to one dose of medicine a day as opposed to 2 just to see if he can tolerate it. She said baby's can grow out of the reflux, but if not, she said it can take up to 9 mos. to get him off of it. Either way, it's working and we're so blessed he's so healthy now.
That's all the updates. We go back in one month.

3 weeks today :)

Maddox had to have a weight check again this morning. It has been 4 days since his last visit. He's up to 8 lbs. 7 oz.....up from 8 lbs. 2 oz. on thursday. Baby zantac must be doing the trick. We have a one month check up next week where he will get a shot and he will need to get weighed again. I sure can't believe he's already going to be one month old next week. Where does the time go? We're so thankful he's gaining weight!!

Weight check - Thursday, October 1

So we went on Monday to take Maddox to Children's for the upper GI which showed his intestines were fine. We then had to do a follow up on thursday for his weight. I had charted everything from the feedings, amount of food taken, when he's vomiting, when he's peeing and pooping to take to the doctor.
She said on thursday everything was good with his feedings, that he's getting what he should. He had still been vomiting about 1-2 times/day though. His weight on Monday was 8 lbs. 5 oz. And when we went on Thursday, his weight went down to 8 lbs. 2 oz. this of course caused a huge red flag to the doctors. We again went to Children's for an ultrasound to check for the pyloric muscle, which they determined was fine as well (if this was larger than normal, they would have had to do surgery right then)...so thank goodness that was fine.
now they have put him on baby zantac. We have been trying that since Thursday and we have still been having trouble with the vomit. We have a follow up appointment on Monday at 9:30 AM to check his weight once again. If it's still going down, there may be further testing. As of right now though, we're trying everything we can.
Doctors don't think it's truly acid reflux or his formula since he's not getting sick after each feeding. Poor guy is always hungry it seems like since all he takes in seems to come right back out.
We're just hoping and praying this is something that will go away soon. In the meantime, he's sleeping in his pumpkin seat upright in our room until we can figure out what's wrong with him and we can trust him to be alone in his room at night.

Maddox at 2 weeks :)

Maddox is officially 2 weeks old! We have had some feeding trouble though. Maddox was first on powder similac, which caused severe diaper rash and vomit. We then switched him to similac advance ready made formula, and seemed to be okay, but the vomit was still there. Diaper rash was gone, so we thought all was well.....
Yesterday, he was 2 weeks old, and this last week we had noticed he was projectile vomiting about every other feeding....and we're talking clear across the room vomit. Very severe. I called the doctor yesterday who told me to try to put rice in his bottles....I did that and sure enough first bottle came right across the room! UGH!
So, I called the doctor back again. They recommended coming in to see him. I took him in and they weighed him. He was 8 lbs. 5 oz. He should be at his birth weight at one week and then go up from there, he's below his birth weight by one once. this caused serious concern with the doctor.
He made us an appointment to go straight to Children's to get an upper GI done on him. The weight loss was a huge concern. We did go there and they found everything with his intestines were okay. They did find the muscle that goes from his esophogus to his small intestine was larger than normal, which could be causing the vomit. This is something called pyloric stenosis. This doesn't come about until they are about 3 weeks old, so they can't test for it until next week via ultrasound.
I have an appt. on thursday for him to check his weight and see how he is. If it's the same or down, we have to get an ultrasound next week and he will most likely have to have surgery and be in the hospital for 2 days....not something we are hoping for.
They did switch his formula to soy, but even doing this, he's vomiting severely. I am doing at least one load of laundry each day of just his clothes. It's everywhere.
We're feeling so bad for the little guy, feel like he can't eat anything and what he does eat doesn't go down properly. We feel helpless.
Please keep us in your prayers and Maddox that everything goes well for him. I will keep this updated!

He's here

After being in and out of the hospital the last 2 weeks with "false alarms", he's finally here! Maddox came today at 3:02 PM and I was 37 weeks along. He was 8 lbs. 6 oz. and 20 1/2 inches long. He's gorgeous. Looks just like Carson did when he was a baby.
He's got extra fluid in his testicles, which they are going to monitor, but other than that, he's healthy and is just perfect. We are so blessed.
My labor was so easy. I came in at 8:30 AM at 5 CM dilated, by 10:30 I had the epidural, 11:30 I was 7 cm, 12:30 I was 10 CM and ready to roll. Took me 5 pushes and bam, he was here.
So different than the first. They always say the second is easier, and they weren't kidding. He was so much easier, but I was having contractions regularly for 2 weeks, so that helped progressing as I was at home.
He's here and Carson can't be a better big brother so far he's hugging and kissing him and is being wonderful.
We are so blessed and we will have pictures shortly!

He's ready!!

I am officially 36 weeks today. The last couple days have been a little rough. Wednesday night, the 2nd, we went to the hospital. My contractions were every 4-7 minutes when they hooked me up on the machine. I was 2 cm. dilated at the time I got there.
I walked the halls for one hour and they hooked me back up on the machine and I was having regular contractions at 4 minutes and had dilated to 2 1/2-3 cm. at this time.
They ended up sending me home and said my contractions weren't intense enough and there wasnt' much change.
So, on thursday I took off work as I had contractions through the night adn wasn't feeling well.
I timed contractions again and they were 2 - 2 1/2 min. apart. I called the doctor who said to go to the office "now".....
I went in and sure enough, I was at 3 cm. They said "not much has changed" so they sent me home again.
So, they want you to call when they are 5 min. apart, so i monitor for hours and call and then get sent back home.
I have decided to just hold off on calling again until i can't stand it, but at this point I'm getting used to the contractions.
I think they are sending me home since I'm 4 weeks from my due date.
I do know they will not stop labor if you are after 35 weeks, so we're in a waiting game right now. Just keep us all in your prayers. Little Maddox is so ready to get here he can't stand it.
thanks for all the prayers

Another check-up

I went in today for another check-up. I had just been there on Thursday and was not expecting much to have gone on since then.
Well, I am 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced.....the doctor says his head is "right there". he told me I could be dilated this way for weeks or I could have contractions and he could come sooner.
I was shocked to hear this news since Carson took me 5 hrs. of walking to get 1/2 cm dilated.....very different. I think Maddox is ready to come out.
Next visit is next Thursday at 9 AM. Let's hope we make it till then!

35 weeks today!

I am officially 35 weeks today! I went to the doctor yesterday for a weekly check-up! Yep, I go every week now to the very end. Time has flown by.
I have gained my 2 lbs. back, so I'm back up to 16 lbs. total so far. Not bad. Doctor said Maddox is growing and his heartbeat in the 140's. There was not much else he mentioned.
I am not allowed to bowl in our bowling league, so that kinda stinks, but it's good for me and him I suppose.
My next visit is going to be on Tuesday, 9/1/09, and they will begin the internal exams to see if I'm progressing at all yet.
Other than that, contractions are really dwindling and my back's just starting to hurt and I'm getting very uncomfortable. Feel like I might get more sleep when he's here between my sleeping positions aren't comfortable and getting up to pee through the night, I am anxious to have him out of my belly!
Keep us in your thoughts and prayers! Time is quickly approaching!

Some more pain!

Yesterday I was having some serious pains in my left side. I was in tears (takes a lot to make me cry from pain). They were stabbing pains. I have started having constant lower back pain as well as the normal pelvis pains I have been experiencing.
It hurt me so bad I called the doctor on call. I just don't remember having so much pain with Carson at all and I was so much bigger with him!
The doctor told me if the side pains (contractions) keep up more than 6x per hour for a couple hours, then I needed to go to the ER last night. I noticed 4 the first hour and 3 the 2nd hour. Didn't ever get 6, so I never went in.
He did tell me if my pains in my pelvis and back continue today I could go into the doctor's office and they would check me.
Weird part of the side pains were it happened most when I was laying down. I was much better when I was up and moving around. Strange I know!
So, I woke up with some pelvis pains this morning, but other than that, same old thing. No sharp side pains, thank goodness.
I will keep you all updated on what the next week has in store. My next visit is next week on the 28th. Let's hope I don't have to visit the doctor anytime before then!

Doctor Visit

I am officially 33 weeks tomorrow! I have 7 more weeks to go (full term).
Doctor checked Maddox's heartbeat and it's great! She measured me and said he's even growing!
Should be gaining about 1 lb./week right now and have lost 2 lbs. in the last 2 weeks.
We all know I don't diet, and certainly not when I'm pregnant, so I was a bit concerned with this. As this puts me down to only gaining 14 lbs. to this point.......weird.
This pregnancy is totally different than Carson. I gained 50 lbs. with him and seemed every week I went in I gained 5 lbs, 7 lbs., etc. never lost anything!
I am not even really swelling too bad. My feet are getting a little swollen, but this time with Carson I was not able to wear any rings or any of my shoes.
They are right when they say every pregnancy is different. Just didn't think it would be this much different!
Everything is great though.
My "pains" are coming and going still. I notice them more when I'm walking a lot or standing a while, but other than that, I'm dealing with it and sucking it up.
Just making me stronger for the real deal I suppose!
Check back for some frequent updates!

Feeling much better!

I must say Maddox must have changed positions on me for the best! I haven't noticed many pains at all and when I do, they are not near as severe as they were last week.
I have been taking it easy as much as possible. Garrett's been helping out a whole lot with everything. Carson will let him hold him instead of me for the most part (which is a nice change).
I am doing what doc said and taking it easy. It's sure paying off. I am feeling much better.
I have my appt. on Thursday so I will keep you all updated on progress!

32 weeks and contractions!!

So, the uncomfortable feel I have been feeling the last couple days has turned into painful and uncomfortable!
I called the doctors office yesterday as the pains are not timed, but are frequent when I stand or move around. They hurt pretty bad too.
They wanted me to get in right away. I had 40 minutes to get all the way to 5 mile from West Chester.....needless to say I was FLYING!!!!
I saw Dr. Fesenmeier who checked my fluids and did an internal exam.
My fluids were fine. I'm not leaking any amniotic fluid. I am not dilated nor thinned out, so he's not ready to come out yet; however, I am having contractions, which is what all this pain is.
He asked me what I do for a job and thank goodness I just sit at a desk or I might have to be limited on what I do.
I just have to take it easy when I'm out and at home. Just can't believe I have 8 more weeks of pains like this.
It is in fact contractions and the baby moving further down to get into position!
Let's pray I don't go super early!

Getting uncomfortable!

I had to make my very first phone call to my 24 hour nurses on Monday, August 4 this week! I am carrying Maddox VERY low and I feel like he's going to come out....he's really that low!
I am having some pains in my lower belly. They started out just being uncomfortable, but now are very painful. I get them about 10x or so a day. Nothing regular though.
The nurses said it could either be him moving or braxton hicks. I had all back labor with Carson, so if this is contractions, I haven't felt them like this before. It seems worse than back labor to me, but I didn't even feel anything with Carson until we went to the hospital and I went into labor.
2 more months of this might like to kill me!
Carson is beginning to understand more about Maddox. He gets the pumpkin seat and says "that's baby brother's seat" and he says "I carry him".....now, he has said "I spank his butt" too, but we're trying to ignore when he does that.
He's very helpful around the house, so we can only hope he stays this way when Maddox arrives.
Everything is going well other than these pains. All this time with nothing to report and I finally have something going on!

Another doctor visit!

I am officially 30 1/2 weeks right now! Maddox is "in position"! He's head down already, so he's ready to roll!
Weight gain is great! Considering we went on vacation for a whole week and I ate like I'd never eaten before, I am happy to report I only gained 2 lbs. in the last 2 weeks, so only 16 lbs. total so far! (Sure it would have been more if Carson would have walked and not made me hold him the whole trip - I got my exercise with him that's for sure)
Heartbeat was 150 BPM this time, which was higher than normal, but still very good!
Garrett got a lot of things together for Maddox while we were on vacation. Baby toys, bouncers, etc. are out in the house right now. Carson seems to think they are "his toys".
We're really getting anxious to meet our little boy, but everything is going well and nothing else to report at all.

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

Another visit....

I went today for another visit. Has been 3 weeks since my last visit and I have gained 5 lbs. in these last 3 weeks. Seems it's all coming on at the end!
I have gained 14 lbs. total so far, and they tell me I'm right on target for my weight.
Maddox's heartbeat was 140 BPM, which has been the last couple times and is very good.
I am on every other week rotation for visits and am 28 1/2 weeks right now. At 36 weeks, I will go every week for check-ups!
Time is flying by with this one!
Nothing much else to report at all, just a normal routine visit and things are alright!

And his name is........

We're going to name baby Hughes: Maddox Carter Hughes!

This was the only name both Garrett and I could agree on. There were some others we liked but this one topped both our charts, so this is officially going to be his name.

Carter is my PopPop's name, so we're keeping the name in the family! We can't wait to meet our little man!

3 hour glucose results!

I tested negative for gestational diabetes! Thank Goodness! What pregnant woman wants to be put on a strict diet? None that I know of! haha!
So, we are very thankful this came back negative. The actual 3 hour test was brutal. They did 4 blood draws and I was so sick afterwards and got dehydrated, so I had to take the day off work afterwards.
I am doing well now though and baby is doing well as well. He's moving all over the place and squirms an aweful lot!
We can't wait to meet our new addition!

Thursday, June 25, 2009

Glucose Test results!

Got the call yesterday I have to go back tomorrow, Friday, June 26, 2009 for the 3 hour glucose test.
I had to take this test with Carson and it came back negative, so I'm hoping this is just a precaution. It's never fun to fast and get 6 viles of blood taken. Wish me luck tomorrow!
I go in at 8:45 AM and drink the sugar solution, wait one hour, and then take blood. They repeat this 2 more times, so I will be done at 11:45.
Should this come back positive, it means I have gestational diabetes and they have to monitor sugars, diet, etc.
SHould get these results early next week and will keep you posted!

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

Doctor visit!

I had my doctor visit today as well as my glucose test done.
I will get results of my test tomorrow, let's cross fingers this doesn't come back positive as it did with Carson. The 4 hour test liked to kill me!
I had some white blood cells in my urine today so they had to send my urine to the lab to get tested. Doctor said it's most likely an infection, but they will get me results on that as well.
It has been 3 weeks since I have been to the doctor and I have gained 1 lb. since my last visit. A total now of 10 lbs.
Doctor is very pleased with my weight gain as he said I'm probably not going to have as big of a baby as Carson was this time around. Let's hope he's right. He also said Carson wouldn't be over 8 1/2 lbs. We will have to see!
Baby's heartbeat was beating strong at 150 bpm. He's doing very well.
I will have test results to post up as I get them in, but in the meantime, we're all doing well!

A new side effect!

Alright, this one is going to be pretty funny to all of you, but not funny to me! (just kidding)
I have been getting charley horses in my feet! Yes, that's correct....not my legs but my feet!
Brittany got first hand what it looks like this weekend at Great Wolf Lodge.
I put my feet in the hot tub and all of a sudden, my toes start to get warped! I couldn't walk at all since my 2nd toe was completely pointed downward and it hurt me so bad.
This lasted about 10 minutes, no exaggeration! Brittany was laughing hysterically as I told her "I will meet up with you all when this goes away and I can walk again!"
It has happened a few times since. I remember getting them in my legs with Carson but not in my feet like this.
They hurt and if anyone has ever experienced them in your feet, you know what I'm talking about.

Another check-up

I had my check up yesterday. I am about 22 1/2 weeks right now. I had my last appointment 4 weeks ago, and have gained 3 more lbs. since then. I'm up to 9 lbs. total at this point.
Doctor says the baby's heartbeat sounds great.
My next visit will be on June 23. Three weeks away! I will get the glucose test done at this visit. Wish me luck on this one as this came back positive with Carson and I had to get the 3 hour test done before (not fun). After this next visit, I will be on an every other week schedule for appointments.
I know, I know, it's going way too fast!
He loves to move at night still. Keeps me up a lot during the night, but I would rather feel him moving than not, so I don't complain too much, just sleepy the next day.
Other than that, everything is going well. I have nothing really to report.
We got the room pretty much put together, just have to paint, but things are progressing!

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

Almost 22 weeks!

Well, I will officially be 22 weeks on Friday! I truly have nothing to report. I feel great, baby is moving a lot, and everything is going well.
We did get the crib together and put in his room and are trying to clear out the room to get it all ready. We have some time, so we are gradually getting to what we can without overdoing it in one day!
Carson's not sure about the whole thing. We asked him to come in and see his brothers room last night and he screamed "NO"! He didn't want us to even open up the door. He will tell you he's going to be a big brother, but he doesn't want to see anything about him right now. I'm sure he will get over it!
That's about all we have to report right now! Things are great!

Thursday, May 21, 2009

Active baby!

Baby Hughes is finally moving and kicking for me. I was getting nervous as I was not feeling much movement at all up until now. Doctor said they worry about it by 22 weeks, and I'm going to be 21 weeks tomorrow!
The baby has been kicking mainly at night. Sure hope that changes before he comes! He seems to be up all night kicking me while I'm sleeping. Keeps me up at night, but it's so good to feel him finally moving.
He seems to hang out on the right side of my belly for some reason. He makes most his moves on that side of my belly!
We just can't wait to meet our new addition to our family!
Stay posted for more updates!

Quad Screen test results

I had the quad screen test done last week, which checks for down syndrome and spina bifida, along with some other things, but my results came back normal. That was good news.
Heartburn is in full force! Zantac will no longer work on its own, it needs some help from the tums!
Everything else is going very well though. I'm feeling a few movements from the baby but nothing to really talk about.
We can't wait to meet our little boy!

IT'S A BOY!!!

We went for the ultrasound yesterday to find out baby Hughes is going to be a little boy!
Also had the visit with the doctor who said the baby is developing great and fluids look good, so he's pleased with everything. We are so blessed!
I have gained 2 lbs. since last visit, so just 6 lbs. total and I'm 19 weeks...it's true when they say every pregnancy is different. I'm not near as big as I was with Carson, but the doctor says I'm doing fine. I was a little concerned, but he said everything was okay with the weight.
I haven't been feeling much movement, but the baby was certainly moving all over during the ultrasound, so I'm assured he's in there and doing well.
I'm feeling great and can't be any happier.
Carson's not really sure what's going on, but lately he's been understanding something since he says "my mommy" and "my daddy" so hopefully he won't be too jealous when he meets his little brother.
That's all we have to report right now. Everything is great and we're very excited to meet him!

Just one complaint!

I thought I could get by a while without complaining of heartburn, but I can't. It's so bad now that tums officially is not working on its own. I am on the zantac now, and just about everyday have to pop a pill or so.
I was trying my best to hold off as long as I could on the pills, since I don't want to get immune to them so early in pregnancy, but that just couldn't happen. I couldn't hold off any longer. This heartburn is just as bad as when I was pregnant with Carson.
Will this baby have as much hair as Carson? We will see!

16 weeks today!

I am officially 16 weeks pregnant today! Feeling like I'm not even pregnant at all, which is kinda nice!
Carson loves to kiss my belly. He says "mommy baby belly" and kisses baby goodbye, goodnight, etc. He's hilarious. We will see how much he likes his sibling when it is here.
We had a great Easter. Carson had a great time hunting Easter eggs Bit-Bit and Jake hid for him, and we had a great dinner at Aunt Jan's house Saturday night. Thank you all!! He then dyed some eggs, which he loved! And then shoveled in as much "bunny cake" as he could - thanks to mom! I thought he was going to get sick!
Easter day, we had a nice cookout for both sides of the family which was very nice. Very relaxing!
Nothing much else to report, things are great, I feel no different, so I have nothing much to report. Just every once in a while I get some rolling around in the stomach!

Doctor visit!

I went for a check-up today and have gained 3 lbs. since last visit, so 4 lbs. total (not bad considering by about 16 weeks with Carson I had gained 8 lbs.) and I'm 15 weeks tomorrow.
Baby's heartbeat was strong at 150 beats/minute.
I still feel wonderful. No sickness to report at all. I can't complain.
I'm just praying my weight remains lower than what it was when pregnant with Carson so I don't have to give birth to another giant!
My next visit is on May 7 where we will find out the sex of the baby and I will have the quad screen test done next visit as well.
So, four more weeks and I will have the news on the sex of the baby (as long as it will cooperate with me).

Zumba has the baby dancing!!

Brittany invited me to Zumba classes last night and after asking my doctor if it was okay to go, I went with his approval!
That is some real fun. Not like a workout, more of a dance party, seriously! Great exercise though.
I have to say during the zumba class, I could feel the baby "moving" for the first time in my belly. No kicking or anything yet, but just some rolling around in my belly, which was a great feeling!
I will be 15 weeks tomorrow, and it seems kinda early to feel some movement, but it wasn't much, but was the first time I felt some good movement in there.
So either the baby was just shocked it's mommy is actually doing some serious exercise, and didn't know what to do, or it was dancing along with me to the music! haha! Either way, it was a great feeling knowing the baby was moving around and to FINALLY feel it!
I am going to try and continue the classes during pregnancy since it was so much fun!

Gestational diabetes test

Good news! My early testing for gestational diabetes came back negative. Thank goodness. As for right now, no diabetes.
I am going to be 13 weeks this Friday and feel wonderful other than this heartburn. I could talk about it in each and every blog I post, but I won't!
They will be able to test at 20 weeks for the sex of the baby.
That's all I have to report right now!

Carson's Easter pictures!

Carson was such a good baby for his Easter pictures. He did everything the photographer asked him to and smiled for EVERY picture. It was a miracle!!
We were so pleased with the pictures I had to post them on this page so everyone could take a look and see.
He's just adorable!! Enjoy!

Hairy baby?

The heartburn is in full force right now. It started about 2 weeks ago and hadn't been terrible until these last 2 days....Bring on the Tums.
I remember when I was pregnant with Carson having this much heartburn, but not this early. And he was a hairy child when he came out. Sideburns and all.
I have been trying to not take as much tums since it's only 3 months and I have 6 more to go. I will eat them like candy come 5 months if I take it every time I feel it coming on.
With Carson I was allowed to take Zantac. And towards the end I was taking Extra Strength. I am really trying to hold off on the zantac until it just gets completely unbareable for me.
Starting to think this child will have a headfull as well.

All about Carson - 27 months

We have introduced Carson to the fact Mommy has a "baby in her belly." He's so cute. He kisses mommy's belly and says "mommy baby belly. Love you baby." "Bye bye baby," and "night night baby."
He likes the baby now that it's in mommy's belly. I'm not sure the same is going to be true when the reality comes and there is another sibling in the house. Although, over time, I'm sure he will be Mr. protective to his sister or brother.
All-in-all, I know he's going to love having someone else to play with all the time. We just ensure we tell him about the baby all the time, so he has no big surprises when the time comes.

Appt. #2

Friday, March 13, I went to hear the heartbeat for the first time on baby number 2. Heartbeat was found pretty fast and was beating at 160 beats/minute. Doctor said everything sounds great. I had only gained 1 lb. since my last visit (5 weeks ago), so that's a plus. By this time with Carson, I was much larger!
I did have to get tested for gestational diabetes at 11 weeks though, which is normally done at 24-28 weeks, but since Carson was 9 lbs. 10 oz. and 2 weeks early, he thought we should test early so I don't have another huge baby and we can monitor the sugars.
All other blood tests have come back normal thus far.
Next visit will be on April 9 at 4:10 PM, so I will keep everyone updated on that visit.
